Ennis is a sixth-generation Floridian and Gullah Geechee descendent with more than 20 years' experience in the fields of planning, architecture and real estate development. He is a trustee for the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation, vice president of membership and outreach for the Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association, and a member of the Groundwork Jacksonville board of directors. He is a public historian, author and co-founder of the online media publications TheJaxsonmag.com and Modercities.com.
Ennis's desire for equitable community development and opportunity led him to pursue and earn a Bachelor of Architecture degree at Florida A&M University.
